Description:
MERIL is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist who has the passion to improve the lives of individuals with a disability, is resourceful with a strong desire to make a difference. The Communications Specialist will provide direct independent living and peer support services to individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing and those who experience communications barriers. This individual will promote the use of assistive technology to help people live independently. In addition, this individual will provide primary information and referral services and assistance in accessing resources to those requesting services. Experience and a working knowledge of agencies and resources available and the ability to collaborate effectively with community partners is a plus. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively using American Sign Language and other alternate communication methods. Professional experience working with those who are deaf/hard of hearing, and experience with assistive technology and ASL certification are highly desirable. Experience with Microsoft products and computer databases is required. A background check and drug test are required. Only non-tobacco users will be considered.
