Description:
The Director of Operations is responsible for achieving operational goals with a focus on operational excellence. This role is responsible for building and implementing a comprehensive budget and plan to support the overall business profitability goal. This position is accountable for defining and implementing industry accepted service levels and pipeline support with general managers, sales managers and customers to enable the Go-To-Market strategy. Director ensures network compliance and attitude of safe work environment for all employees and contractors. Ensures network compliance of all regulatory and industry requirements. Essential Functions: • Safety and Regulatory compliance. • Develops, implements and gains approval for an annual Operations Plan. • Develops and implements operational standards: SOP/Work Instructions throughout network. • Programmatic implementation of Lean principles and Continuous Improvement methodologies. • Establish and implement benchmarkable metrics. • Define required talent; attract, coach and develop team culture. • Participates as an active team member for acquisitions or “green-field” start-ups. Measurements of Success • SQDC/M platform or similar; build baseline and improve quarterly. • Innovation and improvement within operations that is measurable and incentivized. • Implementation of thorough standardized training, onboarding and mentoring program. • Development and attraction of talent to support change management and business strategy. Qualifications: • Business acumen with ability to drive definition of business objectives while positively impacting marketing strategy, brand strategy and distribution channels. • Knowledgeable in government regulations regarding DOT, OSHA, Hazardous Material, etc. • Competency in network transformation; well-honed communication and influencing skills. • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, ERP implementation/tools (prefer SAP). • Lean practitioner with demonstrated problem solving methodologies (prefer Six-Sigma certification). • Previously responsible for a multi-site P&L; understanding daily activities and the impact on financials. • Valid state driver’s license with no major traffic violations within the past five years. Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s degree (BA) and at least 10 years successful record in distribution management. APIC’s, Six Sigma, Lean and ISM certifications preferred. Job Location: St. Joseph, MO Travel: Overnight travel: 50% (U.S.)
