Educare –Early Childhood Educator GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Educator’s responsibilities are to educate and support child care providers to improve the quality of child care and early learning programs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, family or child development, elementary education, psychology, social services or other related field; AND two (2) years’ experience working with children or teachers/staff of a child care and early learning program. (Graduate work in the specified education areas may be substituted for up to one (1) year of experience.) REPORTS TO: Educare Director CLASSIFICATION: Full-time (40 hours weekly) JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Problem-solving skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. 2. Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications are required including Microsoft Office Suite, email and internet applications. 3. Travel is required. Individual must possess a valid driver’s license with chauffeur’s classification and access to a reliable, insured motor vehicle. 4. Individual must pass a background check prior to an offer of employment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: As outlined in individual’s development plan PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ability to provide positive, outstanding customer service. 2. Ability to establish good working relationships with childcare providers. 3. Ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities and socio-economic populations. 4. Plan, organize and carry out monthly on-site visits to childcare providers on designated caseload. 5. Travel outside Buchanan County for monthly visits. 6. Attend and participate in monthly Educare provider meetings/support groups and trainings. These are held evenings and weekends. 7. Provide Educare Director with a schedule of visits. 8. Document all visits, contacts, telephone calls on designated forms. 9. Ability to maintain confidentiality. 10. Continue early childhood education receiving 12 clock hours per fiscal year. 11. Fulfill all state contract requirements. 12. Ability to work in a team environment and provide support to fellow team members is essential. RECORD KEEPING: 1. Turn in time and expense sheets within required time frames as stated in Youth Alliance Policy and Procedure Manual. 2. Keep detailed documentation of all contacts using designated forms. 3. Complete monthly and quarterly reports for the state. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attend weekly Educare staff meeting. 2. Attend all Youth Alliance staff meetings and other meetings as required. 3. Adhere to the St. Joseph Youth Alliance policies and procedures. 4. Assume additional responsibilities as may be requested by the Youth Alliance Executive Director & Educare Director. 5.
