Description:
SUMMARY: Functional activities include the following areas: daily transactional activities with the HR department, assists in employee retention, employee relations, HR hiring procedures, conducts interviews, schedules appointments, and follows all HR policies and procedures, including other administrative and compliance tasks. This position is required to handle and process confidential and sensitive information involving employee wages, benefits, and disciplinary actions and provides support in other HR functions. Also help implement safety policies. Compiles and maintains personnel records by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Performs diversified duties in the processing and record keeping of employee benefits and maintains all hourly personnel files. Answers hourly employee questions concerning benefits and refers to the H.R. Manager for information as needed. • Responds to hourly employee questions regarding benefits and refers to the HR Manager as sources for information as needed. Enrolls new hourly employees and management employees in benefit plans; conducts short orientation to explain benefits during new hire paperwork process. • May help recruiting screen employment applications and assist in other employment activities, including interviewing applicants. • Updates employee files, documents personnel actions and provides information to other departments. Examines production employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized personnel. • Maintains complete confidentiality regarding personnel files, employee data and all other confidential information. • Schedules appointments, provides information to applicants and employees, and performs administrative and clerical duties to assist the H.R. Manager. • Leads and coordinates employee new hire orientation. • Completes all paperwork and data entry accurately, timely and legibly. • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. May occasionally work weekends as determined by departmental needs and upon request of the Human Resources Manager. • May help implement Safety Policies. • Perform other HR duties as assigned by management QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree, 3+ years of related experience in Human Resources, 1+ years of plant environment experience, 2+ years in managing and developing staff or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources and some Safety Background a plus. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write reports and business correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, candidates and the general public. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.
