  Overview:
The Executive Director of the Allied Arts Council will be a dynamic leader with a passion for the community and the range of arts represented among our member agencies and as the face-forward leader, be driven to advance the organization's mission to enrich the lives of the St. Joseph community by bringing the arts and people together. The Executive Director will promote the strengths of the Allied Arts Council and its member agencies; encourage outstanding programming while pursuing excellence in serving the arts community; engage in community collaboration; and consistently communicate to maximize the organization’s impact throughout the St. Joseph community.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Community Engagement
● Develop and articulate the organization’s vision to community audiences and create and oversee the implementation of effective strategies to expand engagement and development.
● Serve as an ambassador for the arts and implementation of plans for: advocacy, donor cultivation, arts education, community collaboration, and marketing/promotion of the arts throughout the community.
● Provide inspirational leadership to staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
Advocacy
● Serve as a prominent advocate and spokesperson for the arts in St. Joseph and the surrounding communities.
● Build strong relationships with government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders to advocate for arts education, accessibility, and funding.
Development and Partnerships
● Provide strategy to all organization fundraising activities including the Arts Fund campaign, visual arts program, and membership drives. Serve as a primary fundraiser, actively maintaining strong relationships with the philanthropic community throughout St. Joseph.
● Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance the organization's impact and sustainability of the community’s art organizations and programs.
● Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to secure funding and support for Allied Arts programs and initiatives.
● Collaborate with member agencies to encourage and support arts programs and events that engage and enrich the community while promoting artistic excellence and diversity.
Organizational Management
● Provide effective oversight of organizational operations, including budgeting, financial management, human resources, and administrative functions.
● Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team of staff, volunteers, and interns dedicated to advancing the organization's mission.
● Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in nonprofit governance and management.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, business administration, or related field.
● Demonstrated leadership experience in a nonprofit organization, arts council, cultural institution, or similar setting.
● Proven track record of successful fundraising, grant writing, and revenue generation.
● Strong strategic planning, organizational development, community engagement, and project management skills.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
● Passion for the arts and a commitment to promoting cultural enrichment and community engagement.
