SUMMARY: Improves Maintenance Team productivity and quality by eliminating delays through coordinating equipment access, maintenance labor, and MRO parts and materials for repairs and replacements. The MRO Buyer improves asset reliability by working closely with Technicians, Storeroom Associates, Operations Department, and the Supply Chain and Maintenance Management. This role is the liaison between Operations and Maintenance Departments, and reports to the Maintenance Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/CAPABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The successful candidate: • Is computer savvy, and competent in CMMS programs, such as SAP, Maximo, or M3. • Reviews and approves purchase requisitions. Justifies and reconciles inventory positions to optimize plant working capital and stock levels. • Evaluates existing suppliers and selects new suppliers. Ongoing supplier interviewing for innovative ideas and coordinates the testing and qualifications. Manages RFQ and RFP process to determine materials pricing and length of strategic agreements. • Analyzes and selects suppliers, issues purchase orders, follows up and expedites as necessary. Negotiates and writes pricing agreements. • Is able to read and comprehend equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and Job Plans. • Understands maintenance and repair of facility, system, asset and component functions and relationships, and is understands troubleshooting and repair. • Is a strong and intuitive sequential thinker, and able to review (on the floor and with Technicians) the diagnoses, job steps, materials, and estimated time needed to complete repair tasks and projects to Plant assets and systems, and match Technician skill levels to the particular job at hand. • Is an effective communicator, a trustworthy connector, has an energetic customer service commitment, and approaches problem-solving with a collaborative, win-win mindset. • Confidently manages multiple or competing priorities, and is able to adapt to a changing environment. • Takes responsibility for planning and development of the appropriate backlog to available resources, promotes reliability maintenance, while balancing the Operational daily output needs with scheduling proactive maintenance. • Acts as the primary point of contact for in-process, scheduled, emergency, and shut-down work, and backlog work completion. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXPERIENCE: • Degree or Certification in Materials Management preferred. • Minimum five years of experience in an industrial maintenance MRO buying, and maintenance planning and scheduling preferred. • A broad understanding of supply chain principles, job planning, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex specifications and instructions. • Possesses good negotiating skills. • Food or meat processing plant experience is preferred, as well as knowledge of and compliance with GMP, and food manufacturing best practices. • Experience in a fast paced, cold, wet production environment. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Must be able to solve problems quickly and with good judgment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to sit, use hand to finger coordination; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud. Space temperatures may range from below freezing to triple digits. NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Days of Work: generally Monday – Saturday but some Sundays may be required.
