  The BERKS Education Technology platform is focused on buying and building businesses that bring innovative learning tools into the workplace. We are expanding and looking for someone to build the employee experience for the platform.
This is a very entrepreneurial opportunity on the firm foundation of a successful 70-year-old family business. Right now, there are less than 20 people on the team. The Recruiter/Employee Experience Manager will be the go-to person for recruiting and retaining talent. This position will partner with the GM and corporate HR team in blending acquisitions and building company culture. It will help create a workforce plan that aligns with the business objectives of the organization. It will also work directly with employees to help them optimize the use of benefits, resolve issues and maintain positive relations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Talent Planning: Provides guidance and input on business unit structures, workforce planning and succession planning. This will require a high level of business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.
• Talent Acquisition:
o Partner with platform leaders to outline roles and qualifications for new and existing positions.
o Collects and analyzes data to maintain current understanding of fair and competitive market salaries, candidate availability, and demand for candidates in particular fields.
o Screens candidates, selects qualified and interested candidates for the interviewing phase, and then connects viable candidates with clients or hiring managers.
o Checks candidates’ references and credentials, verifying experience and backgrounds.
o Follows up with hiring managers after the interview process to determine whether a placement can be made; collects feedback when placement is unsuccessful

• Talent Retention:
o Works closely with management and employees to build an excellent employee experience.
o Help to identify opportunities for employees to leverage the strong benefits the company offers as well as determine any needed improvements.
o This person will be responsible for helping resolve employee issues and investigate any employee concerns in partnership with the corporate HR team.
o A strong knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance is required.
o Maintains and ensures compliance with applicable equal employment opportunity (EEO) and related employment laws and regulations.
o Engages with Corporate HR staff in understanding, delivering and administering all HR communication, policies, practices, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong aptitude for close listening and processing as part of creating good relationships with leaders and employees
• Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with aptitude in conducting interviews.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Adherence to confidentiality and privacy requirements for HR compliance.
• Thorough understanding of EEO, ADA, and other related employment laws and guidelines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
• Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
• At least two years related experience required.
• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification is encouraged.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Working Conditions:
This position must be able to work in close proximity to others and work indoors in environmentally-controlled conditions. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
