What you'll do:
Primary duties for this position will focus on Assets & Purchasing. This is an advanced vocational position accountable for maintaining specialized accounting record systems. This includes resolving errors, balancing accounts, and preparing reports. Assumes responsibility for the procurement of assigned commodity/services in a state agency. Makes direct purchases of supplies within limits allowed by state regulations. Contacts local sources of supply, obtains price quotations, and selects vendors. Receives, approves, and consolidates internal requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment. Contacts sources of supply to obtain physical specifications and price quotations and submits completed requisitions to the Division of Purchasing and Materials Management. Contacts vendors for maintenance issues related to copiers, printers etc. Completes fleet reports, inventory reports, and manages fixed assets for the hospital. Completes fund requisition, assists with coverage of the front window, and inputs patient funds into the canteen system. Performs other related work as assigned. At this level, employees monitor and provide information about a variety of fiscal areas (e.g. grants, budgets, benefits, etc.) and analyze transactions to determine if complex accounting entries are accurate. Incumbents are also accountable for reviewing and processing complicated or contested transactions (e.g. payroll, accounts receivable/payable, travel expenses, collections, etc.).

Knowledge, skills & abilities:
In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Skill in using automated financial systems. Ability to apply accounting principles and practices to varied levels of accounting transactions. Ability to mentor and provide guidance to accounting staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’ Degree and 0-2 years of experience (Substitutions may be allowed)
