Job Title: Childcare Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: CEO/President
Job Purpose: Plan, organize, direct, schedule and evaluate all activities in leading a total developmental childcare program (Infant – age 6).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, supervise, and conduct activities to foster children's intellectual, social, emotional, and developmental growth in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the YWCA Discovery Childcare program.
Operate the program in conformity to licensure, accreditation, and organizational standards, and any contractual agreements. Maintain all required records.
Assist in recruiting and hiring process.
In collaboration with CEO direct policies of admission and attendance, tuition policies and fee structures.
Oversee training requirements/compliance standards for all childcare staff.
Foster professional relationships with contracting agencies, ensuring regular communication.
Establish positive relationships with parents, families, and the community.
Enroll children, complete billings for families, CACFP, and state subsidies.
Oversee the supply inventory and maintenance of the facility in compliance with licensure standards.
Prepare and manage the budget.
Prepare and manager statistical reports, program grants and contracts.
Attend staff meetings and training as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and college credit for earning CDA required
BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
First Aid and infant, child, and adult CPR within 60 days of hire.
Ability to pass Child Abuse/Neglect and criminal background screenings.
Ability to pass required physical examination and TB
Experience in licensed childcare setting (2-3 years preferred).
Management experience, 1-2 years preferred.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds; ability to work with a team.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Driver’s license, insured vehicle at company required minimums, and ability to travel.
Working Conditions
Forty (40) hour workweek with flexibility regarding days/times to accommodate staffing needs to maintain required adult/child ratio and appropriate staff supervision.
Employee works in licensed childcare facility and is protected from weather conditions and contaminants.
Some evenings/weekends may be required for staff meetings and/or trainings.
Physical Requirements
Standing or sitting for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting – generally not to exceed 50 pounds.
Ability to perform activities requiring cooperation, instruction, or speaking with others on consistent basis.
Ability to communicate effectively in person with program participants, funders, and staff.
