Purpose:
– The Industrial Mechanic- Animal Feed Production is to provide mechanical, technical, and hands-on maintenance support to process and production operations. This role will also be responsible for accurate reporting of all work performed.
Accountabilities:
– Provide technical troubleshooting and training in the setup and operation of production equipment including all aspects of mechanical systems such as: Steam traps, Heat exchangers Valves, Pressure valves, Motors, Bearings, Dryers, VFDs, Agitators, and Seals
– Provide basic electrical troubleshooting and maintenance support of instruments and controls
– Hands on trouble shooting requiring root cause failure analysis, PM’s, testing, repairs, and modifying/improving equipment
– Provide practical and proactive problem-solving skills
– Record all maintenance actives in the maintenance work order system
– Organize and maintain accurate spare parts inventory
– Willing and able to work off hours, overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications:
– Education: High School Diploma
– Experience:
– Industrial experience in electrical and mechanical support functions
– Preferred Training- technical school (welding, HVAC, electrical, machining, etc.)
– Strong mechanical maintenance experience and strong knowledge of hand and power tool usage
– Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs.
– Ability to: climb, lift, bend, push, pull, stoop, and twist
– Ability to: use tools and equipment to repair and provide maintenance while standing, crouching, stretching, and extending extremities, potentially under extreme work conditions and/or environment from exposed heights
– Able to calibrate and maintain equipment to manufacturers specifications
– Able to change priorities as needed to support immediate needs of plant operations, and complete scheduled maintenance activities.
– Able to record all maintenance activities in the Maintenance Work Order system
– Continue to grow maintenance and leadership skillsets through assigned training
– Demonstrated knowledge of repairing and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
– Diagnose and test malfunctioning machinery and discuss plan to restore to full operation with key facility personnel
– Experience with organizing and maintaining an accurate spare parts inventory
– Good understanding of PLC controls
– Good understanding of boiler operations
– Maintain the proper stock of tools and electrical parts to perform -routine work
– Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints
– Must be knowledgeable of OSHA safety requirements, especially those related to electrical and mechanical operations and components
– Prepare maintenance reports for management as directed
– Working knowledge of three phase motors, programmable controls, -circuits, computer interfaces and National Electrical Code
Skills:
– Technical training in essential skills such as electrical, welding, precision machining, HVAC is a plus
– Able to demonstrate practical problem-solving skills
