Description:
  Purpose
– The Fermentation Manager is responsible for the operation and cleanliness of specialized equipment designed to produce fermented products.

Role Accountabilities:
– Work with department team to assure the production plan, schedule, and activities are coordinated to meet company requirements
– Balance quality, productivity, and safety to achieve results in all areas
– Work to continuously improve in all areas
– Safely operate a forklift as well as pass a certification test for its operation
– Work as a team member to meet departmental key performance indicators
– Engage in AO and other microbial media cook process
– Engage in aseptic fermenter operation including; sterile transfers, SIP/CIP and product broth harvesting
– Perform aseptic ferment sampling
– Submit supply chain logs for safety, mechanical, or production issues
– Assist in facility maintenance and upkeep
– Assist in checklist updates as required
– Follow and perform daily checklists and inspections
– Complete in-person quality checks
– Maintain a clean and orderly work area by keeping tools and equipment in proper places and all materials off the floor of the area
– Lead and execute inventory control procedures at the Easton facility, ensuring alignment with corporate inventory standards and maintaining real-time inventory through proper receiving, scanning, transfers, reconciliation, and bin verification
– Partner with lab personnel to establish and maintain structured lab inventory control, including organized storage, documented tracking of on-hand quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates, and routine cycle counts to ensure accuracy and eliminate obsolete or expired materials
– Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor of Science in a technical field or applicable experience
– Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a manufacturing facility environment
– At least 2 of the years experience with management of people and an advanced understanding of quality systems and food safety programs
– Must be willing to relocate (if applicable) within commutable distance of our Easton facility (located in St. Joseph, Missouri)
– Ability to pass a written and driving exam to prove capability of safely operating a forklift
– Willing and able to wear the necessary Personal Protection equipment (PPE) (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, chemical suit, respirator, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel-toe boots or safety shoes and other PPE required by specific jobs)
– Willing and able to work off hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed
– Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)
