  Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate professional to join our leadership team that is passionate about improving the lives of the children of our community and their families. This is posted as a dual position- one job, but the title will depend on their skills & education. This person will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our Head Start program by providing leadership, strategic direction and coordination of all aspects of our early childhood programs. The Director will uphold all of the policies, procedures, practices and mission of CAPSTJOE to ensure compliance per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and all local, state and agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
Monitor and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and state and federal requirements associated with Head Start Department and programs and services in the Head Start Department.
Oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of departmental programs and services; analyze the feasibility of Head Start programs and services and coordinate programs/service implementation.
Prepare departmental reports on outcomes, and other required data to provide to funders, Executive Director, Board of Directors and Policy Council.
Identify and source funding needs and opportunities; meet established grant and contract deadlines and reporting.
Represent CAPSTJOE in the community through collaboration with local, state and federal partners.
Develop, oversee, and administer Head Start Department budgets; Responsible for monitoring and controlling departmental expenditures to ensure budget alignment and in accordance with agency procurement policies.
Oversees tracking, accuracy, and timeliness of departmental results and data as related to Head Start Performance Standards, PIR and other organization standards

Requirements & Education/Experience
Oversee the activities of the Head Start Department staff. Provide recruitment, training, support and supervisory review.
Provides direct supervision to Head Start Program Managers and Coordinators and is responsible for planning, assigning, directing work, and appraising performance, coaching, mentoring, and disciplining employees.

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years in a management role required.
Experience with service delivery to families, child development, administration and staff supervision required.

Preferred Qualification
Master’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, Social Work or Psychology preferred.
5 years or more experience in a management role, preferred.
