LifeLine Foods Celebrates Second Masa Mill

LifeLine Foods has expanded its masa flour production with a second mill. The $5.5 million in existing building improvements and $6.5 million in new machinery/equipment. The expansion created 13 more jobs in St. Joseph that pay more than $65,000.

Masa flour is used to make tortillas, tamales, empanadas,  cornbread and more. It’s a rapidly growing market. LifeLine could have put the mill in another location, but the proximity to corn growers and St. Joseph’s transportation assets helped make the decision to grow in St. Joseph.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Sept. 22, 2020, and was attended by Buchanan County and City of St. Joseph officials, as well as representatives from the state and federal legislators and the Chamber of Commerce.
