Milken Institute named St. Joseph, Mo., as the 11th Best-Performing City in the U.S. in its annual report. The institute ranks this index based on how well cities are creating and sustaining jobs and its economic growth. The components include job, wage and salary, and technology growth. In most years, these give a good indication of the underlying structural performance of regional economies.
“This is a reflection of our growth in GNP in the community and our relatively stable job market,” said R. Patt Lilly, President/CEO of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce. “We’ve also seen some job growth in the last few years, which has helped.”
