Description:
The Fermentation Tank Operator is responsible for the operation of specialized equipment designed to produce our products. The products manufactured are beneficial bacteria and solutions for agriculture crops. This position includes weighing and mixing production ingredients, operating vessels for sterilization and aseptic transfer of those mixes into production fermenters where conditions are controlled and monitored for proper results following a prescribed process. There is a specialized harvesting process for packaging of the products.Previous experience in a manufacturing facility environment is preferred. Limited experience is also acceptable. All employees will have in person training on processes with standardized documentation.

Full time salary position (typically 40-45 hours per week) with hours of 7-4 Mon-Fri, with an occasional late night or weekend work that will be scheduled.  Available for immediate start

ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Superior attention to detail and follow all standard operating procedures as required for proper operation and product specifications.
• Assist with maintaining SOP reviews and creating new SOP’s.
• Continuous improvement of methods and processes within the fermentation facility.
• Ensure that all production materials are in good quality and adequate inventory to maintain production schedules.
• Work with department team to assure the production plan, schedule, and activities are coordinated to meet inventory requirements.
• Balance quality, productivity, and safety to achieve results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
• Must be able to safely operate a forklift as well as pass a certification test for forklift operation.
• Work as a team member to meet departmental performance measures.
• Ensure that all media is mixed in accordance with the SOP and production documents.
• Liaise with laboratory and Manager to ensure optimum production and quality is being achieved.
• Problem solving to ensure the best performance of the facility is met.
• Always be on standby to the facility to ensure all production and equipment needs are met.
• Aseptic fermenter operation including; sterile transfers, SIP/CIP and product broth harvesting.
• Performing aseptic fill room activities including, cleaning, sterilization, operation, and maintenance.
• Facility maintenance and upkeep which includes equipment service checks to ensure the plant and equipment is running optimally.
• Keeping the fermentation and mixing area organized, cleaned, and presentable at all times. Cleanliness of the production areas must be of the highest standards always.
• Maintain adequate record keeping and proper documentation for all production records.
• Performing routine inventory checks on fermentation consumables which includes but not limited to filters, gaskets, diaphragms, hoses.
• Create a budget for all fermentation consumables at the beginning of the year.
• Ensure boiler checks and chemical test have been conducted and meet the requirements set forth by the manufacturer (if qualified)
• Responsible to always be looking for new technologies and ideas that can increase production and lower cost of production. Ideas such as gowning procedures, cleaning protocols, health and safety, techniques, flow diagrams, and organization.
• Ensure document checklist verification, transfer, and retention is complete and organized.
• Maintain weekly and monthly checks on first aid kits, fire extinguishers, exit lights, eye wash/showers.
• Perform all duties assigned by Fermentation Operations Manager and/or the Director of the Company.
